These crazy hat chalk drawings were so much fun. The clean up afterward was almost more fun. I really wanted my grade 3’s to have a fun last junior primary art lesson.

I asked them to draw a crazy, creative, inventive hat and something they are holding. One class asked if they could draw shoes too and it was great until we couldnt fit it easily into the photographs – oh dear! Their basic outlines were drawn around a friend and then they finished coloring and decorating it for their photo. They were to be part of their art. Since the artworks were to be washed off the tennis courts as soon as they were finished we had to photograph and post them quickly to make the artworks complete or they would simply be a memory without any proof. The photo makes it complete and real.
